Our last day of school together was such a blast! For daily work, we collected all of the items around the classroom that belonged to us. We made goop in the make shop, built with shaving cream and foam blocks, created in the block center and the dramatic play center. We played favorite games like orchard and uno. We watched our Green Room Memories slideshow and remembered all the we have done this year! For snack, the friends enjoyed a popsicle party on the playground!

Today in the Green Room we experimented with a volcano and erupted our own volcanoes in a cup using baking soda and vinegar, and built with foam blocks and shaving cream. We patterned, sorted and built with unifix cubes,added zoo animals to waffle block creations, and created art in the Make Shop using various materials found in the art closet. Miss Debbie, from the Carnegie Library, visited and shared some stories about cows with us. The morning friends celebrated Aya's birthday with an ice cream and rainbow sprinkles snack.

Daily Work: making a bracelet for ourselves!

Today we continued doing our favorite school activities with our friends. They included:

-playing with a variety of ramps and balls

-putting the finishing touches on our number journals

-playing favorite board games like candyland and hi ho cherry-o

-building with legos

-eating bananas and sunbutter for snack

**The morning friends were joined by Henry's parents to celebrate his birthday. Henry's dad shared a story with Henry's friends at circle. We enjoyed a special pancake snack

**Mrs. Opferman's friends were joined by an expert at gym today! John's Mom taught the friends some rugby skills and rules. The friends had the opportunity to kick a rugby ball and suited up in a team shirt and a flag belt to play a little bit of flag rugby. Big Thanks to John's Mom for teaching us how to play!

During our last week in the Green Room, we are doing favorite activities and playing favorite games.

Daily Work: friends practiced throwing fabric frisbees outside in the reflection garden.

The available activities today included:

-making goop (combining water, glue, liquid starch and food coloring) 

-building in the block center

-playing in the dramatic play kitchen

-building with legos

-making animal homes with waffle blocks

-eating bagels and cream cheese for snack

*At gym, Mrs. Bird's friends and Mrs. Cherin's friends enjoyed playing our favorite games outside on the field. We played don't wake the sleeping giant and parachute and running games.

Happy Friday Families and Friends!

Today in the Green Room we ended our Bird Theme with a program titled, "The Wonder of Birds."  Chris Kubiak, from the Audibon Society presented a Red Shouldered Hawk!  He answered questions from the friends, Chris talked to us about the connection of dinosaurs from a long time ago to birds and other bird facts.

The friends ate graham crackers and applesauce for snack.

To all the moms - Happy Mother's Day! The Green Room Friends were busy all week preparing a show of their love for their mothers!  Enjoy the necklace, card and gift bag your child made for you.

Today in the Green Room we continued investigating owl pellets and matched the found bones to the bone chart to determine what animal the owl ate.  Some friends are finishing up their number books and bringing them home.  The Make Shop was open to create sculptures and art using various materials from our art closet.  We are putting our finishing touches on our top secret project that will be coming home tomorrow!  The friends made their snack for daily work today- a pizza muffin!  The morning friends celebrated Harris' birthday today and his Mom visited and shared a favorite book.

We continued our study of owls today in the Green Room.

Our daily work was decorating a gift bag for a top secret activity.

Our favorite activities today included:

-dissecting owl pellets and studying the bones to see which animal they belonged

-making inventions in the make shop, painting special hearts for an ongoing project

-finishing owl booklets

**Friends ate chips and salsa for snack and enjoyed playground time.

Owl Week in the Green Room continued today with the following activities:

- making more Owl Booklets.

- using the woodworking center to continue a top secret mother's day project.

- working on the Number Books.

- playing the cooperative game, Hoot Owl Hoot.


Yogurt and fruit were served for snack.


In gym class, Mrs. Opferman's friends played bird games to warm up, like What Time is it Miss Eagle and Duck, Duck, Goose. Then we continued practicing t-ball skills.

This week is Owl Week in the Green Room!

Daily work today: TOP SECRET activity :)

Today we were busy making an owl booklet with pictures of owls. Friends then wrote the name of the owl under the photo. We dictated bird stories and drew pictures of coloful birds. We used clay and feathers to mold birds. We used the woodworking center to begin a top secret mother's day project. Cheerios were served for snack.

Mrs. Bird's friends and Mrs. Cherin's friends played bird games to warm up today like What Time is it Miss Eagle and Duck, Duck, Goose. Then we continued practicing t-ball skills.

Due to uncertain weather, our walk to the Carniege Library was canceled.  Check the library website to see other dates and times that are available to see the Magic Tree puppet show.


Todays acitivities included...

- going to the Make Shop

- experimenting with tubs of foam paint and using eye droppers with water color paints to make unique designs in the foam 

- working in number books

- played the Orchard board game

- played in the Blue Room

- released our 8 butterflies outside

Snack today was Children's School Mix
